We have a debate here. May be I should type: We have a "debate" here. Published by no less prestigious a newspaper than The New York Times. Anything wrong with this picture?
Take a closer look. Yep, Islam is at the Centre of the debate not one contributor is a Muslim. Do not get me wrong, I do repect Greenwald's opinions and read them quite regularly but... what makes The New York Times think that it has enough diversity of opinions when not one representative of the concerned target ("targeted" in this case) group contributes to this debate?
It will only be a matter of time before they start exporting oil to Israel (and I actually understand the Kurdish struggle for recognition and some form of autonomy.)
After all, Israel, not North Korea, is the state which, already in 1981, was called upon by the UN Security Council "urgently to place its nuclear facilities under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency."
Deny that the place has a tradition which it obviously has (cartoons, in this case): "But in the Middle East, there has not been much of that tradition."
Use a simplistic argument to explain your false claim. Religion is what works best: "Islamic tradition has discouraged figurative depiction of human beings; in Judaism, pictures are used only sparingly."
Now, finish by insisuating that a pro-US dictatorship is better than other dictatorships. In order to do that, what better than an unverified claim by someone from the region? "At least, he said, Jordan is in a "much, much better situation" than Syria, among other Middle Eastern countries. "
